Tomball is a small Texas city located 30 miles north of Houston in the Houston Metropolitan Area. It is positioned in Harris County and had a population of about 12,000 people in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau. Tomball is known as The Hometown with a Heart.
Tomball is located in the area of southeastern Texas that was the site of a farming community. The settlement was known as Peck and was one of forty operating train stations between Fort Worth and Galveston on the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railway. Several facilities operated in Peck, making it a popular agricultural trade center in the area. In 1907, Peck was renamed Tomball in honor of Thomas Henry Ball, a gentleman who was instrumental in routing the railroad through the community. Tomball became incorporated in 1933.
